Search Engine Optimization

Search Engines affect quality and quantity of traffic to your site so it is very necessary to choose the most appropriate Search Engine for your site. Once you have done this, the next step is to submit your site in that search engine. People normally browse through the web sites displayed in the first page of their search result. Only when they don't find the desired result, do they consider the next page. Hence, after completing these two steps, you have to use some tips to enhance the ranking of your web site. These tips are known as Search Engine Optimization Tips or more popularly, SEO Tips.

Below are some important SEO tips to be kept in mind while designing your web-site:

  1. The Title Tag: The title tag should be placed in the head tag of the page and it should be self-explanatory. The reason being that when your web page appears in a search result, the title of that page will be displayed. So, it's adviced that each page should have a title appropriate to it's content. It should be short, crisp, informative, unique, accurate but also descriptive.
  2. Meta Tag: Since the title of a page is only a small phrase, meta tag may be used to write a short paragraph about the page. This gives the search engines some information about the page. The Meta tag is also placed in the head tag of the page.
  3. URL: The URL should be related to the content. It should inform the user what the web-page contains. It is displayed as a part of the search result hence, it should not be too long or too short and should be easy to remember.
  4. Quality content: There should be some content in the web-page and that content should be useful and compelling. Only when the users like the content, will they come to the site again and again and they will also direct other user users to the site also.
